8/7/2010 - Are you Ready for a Bash?

Ward 4 is turning up the fun at their upcoming 10th Annual Ward IV Back to School Bash scheduled for Saturday, August 7th at the Clements Center, 8155 East Poinciana. ALL RESIDENTS are invited!! Pancake breakfast starts at 8am. FREE child I.D. and fingerprinting for children under 18 provided by the Tucson Police Officers Association and a Jumping Castle and Inflatable Obstacle Course provided compliments of Parks & Recreation are just some of the planned activities! Free swimming at the Clements Swimming Pool from noon - 4:00pm. Informational and interactive booths and displays from 9-noon, and raffles from 9-11:00am. Don't miss this event if you would like a chance to win free ice cream for a year, or maybe some cool electronics, or a chance to win a new bicycle! You MUST be present to win!! Since it's inception, MRNA has supported this awesome community event because of the benefit to the community AND IT IS FUN!! OH, and did we mention FREE school supplies?? June 13, 2010 - Southwest Gas To Begin New Gas Line Installation

Southwest Gas is getting ready to begin installing their new redundant line on the west side of Houghton Road between Irvington Road and Valencia Road. Southwest Gas expects construction to start in the third week of June. They estimate it will take about 4 months to complete their work. Traffic impacts will be minimal to none at all.

They will be installing their new gas line in the Houghton Corridor future right of way, and all their work has been coordinated with the Houghton Corridor project. In addition, they are going to be clearing some vegetation and all the work is being done in compliance with our Native Plant Preservation Ordinance. Southwest Gas has designed the location of their line to avoid as much vegetation as possible and still remain compatible with the future roadway work.

MRNA Suspends Community BBQ ... for now.

MRNA has suspended the planned Spring/Summer community BBQ scheduled for Saturday, June 10th, 4-8 pm at the East Pool facility. Please check the MRNA website regularly for updates to the next community BBQ.

April 13, 2010 - Houghton Widening Project Open House

RESIDENT ALERT!!! The City of Tucson will be conducting an open house to present the Houghton Widening Project Irvington to Valencia FINAL DESIGN. This is the opportunity for the public to learn current plans and timing for the project (its happening soon!). The open house will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2010, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Presentation at 6:30 p.m.Rincon Vista Middle School 10770 E. Bilby Road, Tucson, AZ 85747. Feb 2, 2010 - Next MRNA Regular Meetings Comin' Up!

MESQUITE RANCH RESIDENTS please join us for our 1st 2010 MRNA meeting on February 2, 2010 at the Senita Valley Elementary School multi purpose room. Meeting starts at 6:30pm.

Guest Speaker: Aimee King, Community Outreach Coordinator for Technicians for Sustainability (TFS). Grassroots program designed to inform neighbors and fellow Tucsonans about solar technology and sustainability.

Jan 15, 2010 - What Happened to MRNA Regular Meetings?

MRNA Board of Directors voted to suspend regular meetings from November 2009 thru January 2010. The next regular meeting will be held February 2, 2010. Oct 30 - Nov 2, 2009 - Semi Annual Community Yard Sale and Cleanup!

Sell It... The fall yard sale date is set for Oct 31, 2009! It's a great opportunity to clean out your closets & garages and turn your clutter into CASH! Signage & advertising will be provided by MRNA to help bring in a large number of bargain hunters.

Move it Out... Four large roll-off containers will be placed at convenient locations around the community during the period of Oct 30-Nov 2, for collection of trash, lawn refuse and other bulky items. 10/10/2009 - BBQ Time ... Come and Get IT!

The MRNA will celebrate the Fall and the break in hot weather by hosting a Fall BBQ this upcoming Saturday, October 10th, 4-8 pm at the East Pool facility. If it's ANYTHING like the last one you WILL NOT want to miss this one. Planned viddles include, hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks (provided) and residents are encouraged to bring one side dish or dessert. Activities will include a jumping castle, 50/50 drawing. Seeking volunteers for set up (1-2 pm), grilling burgers/hot dogs, clean up after event. If interested, please email Paige Calloway @ paigecalloway@yahoo.com. 7/8/2009 - Ward IV Crime and Fraud Prevention Forum

Council Member Shirley Scott would like to invite all MRNA residents to the upcoming Ward IV Crime and Fraud Prevention Forum. This event will be an opportunity for residents to learn more about crime and fraud impacting Arizona, including methamphetamine, human smuggling, drug trafficking, identity theft, consumer scams, elder abuse and Internet safety.

The Forum will be moderated by Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard. Tucson Police Chief Roberto Villaseñor, Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik, Pima County Attorney Barbara LaWall, and Ward 4 Aide Andy Squire will be panelists. Please click HERE to view an event flyer.

6/2/2009 - MRNA To Consider and Vote on New Board Members

* * * Notice to Residents * * * ALL MR residents are invited to attend this MRNA REGULAR MEETING. Residents will consider AND VOTE on new board members. If you would like to voluntarily serve your community, or if you know of someone that may be interested, this is an excellent opportunity to get onboard and make a difference. It only takes a few hours a week and there are opportunities to serve on projects like the Houghton Road Widening Project, off-road and firearm safety, vandalism and graffiti abatement, and social/community service projects. Come and consider sharing your talents for the benefit of the community!

6/28/2010 thru 7/9/2010 - Southwest Gas to Salvage Desert Plants and More

In preparation for the construction of Houghton Road from Irvington Road to Valencia Road, Southwest Gas will be relocating wire fence and salvaging cactus for future transplant from Monday, June 28, to Friday, July 9. This work will begin at the south end of the project at Valencia Road and move north to Irvington Road. Workers will be on-site six days each week, from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Impacts to traffic are anticipated to be minimal to none.

5/29/2010 - Houghton Corridor Master Plan Info Available

The following notice was provided by Nina Borgia-Aberle who would like to inform all Ward 4 neighborhood association residents about the Houghton Corridor Master Plan and she would like your feedback!

Greetings Mesquite Ranch Residents,
I wanted to share that Blessing Hancock and I will be at Family Fun Day on May 29th at Rita Ranch. Could you spread the word.(email, text, phone chain, etc) We will have lots of information on the Houghton Corridor Master Plan. We will have gifts for anyone who fills out a questionnaire and fun activities for kids. Look for the booth that says "Got Art?" We really need everyone's feedback. The Irvington to Valencia Project will be coming up soon and the more we hear from the community the better.

Residents are reminded that the Marquette street access is NOT an authorized drop-off area for children. To drop-off children, please use Bilby Road to school grounds to safely drop-off your children.

8/4/2009 - Marquette Street Access to School Complex to be Reviewed

Vail School District is nearing completion of the new Middle School facilities. MRNA residents voted to review the issue of vehicular and pedestrian access at the Marquette Street access point in August 2009. Please plan to attend the August Annual meeting to contribute in discussing this important issue.

7/13/2009 - Ward 4 offers COPA!

There is a new amenity available for rental in Lincoln Park, just north of the Ward IV City Council Office. It is the Lincoln Park Children's Outdoor Performance Area, or COPA. This 2.5 acre fenced site is available for special events. It includes a 700 square foot gazebo, 2 lighted shade ramadas with electrical outlets, two restrooms, shaded children's playground, an amphitheater with a 40' x 52' stage. This is a great venue, with amazing photo opportunities, for weddings, family reunions, company picnics, birthday parties and other celebrations. Call the Clements Center at 791-5787 for rental rates.

5/15/2009 - Traffic Enforcement Focus on Speeding/ATVs

TPD Traffic Division has informed MRNA of speed and ATV enforcement in and around the Mesquite Ranch subdivision in the near future. Residents are reminded that the speed limit on Bilby Road is 25 miles per hour and City statutes prohibit off-road operation of ATVs within 1/4 mile of any structure. Properly licensed ATVs may operate on city streets only. Please exercise caution when driving near Metropolitan Street and the Elementary School area especially when children and parents are present.
